【Note】The battery indicator shows the battery power from high to low through green, blue, and red.

How to Use Recalbox System

Setup WIFI in Recalbox OS

  • Press START to enter the MENU.
  • Select NETWORK SETTING, press B to confirm (in Recalbox system, B is to confirm, A is to exit).

  • Set the ENABLE WIFI to ON.
  • Choose "WIFI SSID" and enter the SSID.
  • Choose "WIFI KEY" and enter the password.
  • Click close and wait for WiFi connection.
  • After WiFi connection, you can see the IP address of the GPM2803P1 in "IP ADDRESS".

【Note】If the GPM2803P1 cannot connect to WiFi, please try:

1. Connect to the WiFi network with your mobile phone first to check whether the phone can be connected to the Internet normally.

2. Wi-Fi connection may take a long time. You can exit the NETWORK SETTING interface first, enter the NETWORK SETTING interface again after a few minutes to check whether it has connected normally.

3. It is normal if the STATUS shows "NOT CONNECTED", as long as the IP is obtained.

Add new games on the Recalbox system

1. Enter the IP address obtained in the "NETWORK SETTING" to the browser of your PC (the PC needs to be in the same local area network as the GPM280). And then press Enter to open the Recalbox manager. As shown in the picture below:

2. Before adding ROMs, please check whether the storage space is enough, as shown in the picture below:

3. If the current storage capacity is low, please try to expand the File System of your TF card. Check how to expand the File System

The image we provided on the TF card has already been expanded to the File System. But if you want to use your own TF card or update the image, you need to expand or re-expand the File System by yourself.

4. After confirming that the storage space is enough, please select ROMs and then choose 'Game Boy Advance', and click 'Stop ES'.

5. And then click "Upload ROMs", drag the ROMs which you want to update to the corresponding position.

6. Click "Start ES", then the ROMs will be added.

Use pre-configured Image

1)Download the compressed file to the PC, and unzip it to get the .img file.

2) Connect the TF card to the PC, and use SDFormatter.exe software to format the TF card.

3) Open the Win32DiskImager software, select the system image downloaded in step 1, and click "Write" to write the system image.

4) After the image has finished writing, please insert the TF card into GPM280, turn on the switch, and then the system will start normally.

【Note】If the battery power is too low (the indicators flash red light or the indicator lights are off), the system will not be able to start. In this case, you can charge the GPM280 by connecting a 5V/3A power adapter to the Micro USB interface. The indicator lights will flash when charging, and the GPM280 supports charging while playing games.

Configure image manually

Configuration on Recalbox system

1. Download the newest Recalbox image (the GPM280 can support Recalbox 7.1.1 now) from the Recalbox official website, and unzip it to get the .img file.

2. Connect the TF card to the PC, and use SDFormatter.exe software to format the TF card.
3. Open the Win32DiskImager software, select the system image downloaded in step 1, and click "Write" to write the system image.
4. After the image has finished writing, open the config.txt file in the boot directory of the TF card, add the following code at the end of config.txt, then save and quit the TF card safely.

5. Download the GPM280 DTBO and extract 1 dtbo file. Copy this file to the /overlays directory (/boot/overlays/).
6. Save and quit the TF card safely.
7. Insert the TF card into the GPM280, turn on the power switch, and wait ten seconds to enter the system normally.
Buttons re-configuration

  • Press the Start button to enter the MENU interface.
  • Select "CONTROLLERS SETTINGS", and press A to confirm.
  • After selecting "CONFIGURE A CONTROLLER", long-press A to enter the buttons configuration page.
  • The UP\DOWN\LEFT\RIGHT options correspond to the Cross button. You can press DOWN to skip the unused buttons. After configuring A\B\X\Y\START\SELECT\L1\L2, please note that the last HOTKEY selects the SELECT button by default, and then presses A to finish the configuration.

Setting the sound output

  • Press the Start button to enter the MENU interface, select SOUND SETTINGS, and press B to confirm (after the button configuration is completed, the button B is the confirm button by default).
  • And then select DEFAULT OUTPUT in the OUTPUT DEVICE.

Setting the language

  • Press the Start button to enter the MENU interface, select SYSTEM SETTINGS.
  • Press B to confirm, and select the corresponding language in LANGUAGE.
  • After closing the menu, you will be prompted to reboot, and the new language can be used after restarting.

Setting the WIFI

  • Press the Start button to enter the MENU interface, select NETWORK SETTINGS, and press B to confirm.
  • And then set it to ON in ENABLE WIFI. Select the corresponding WIFI hotspot in WIFI SSID, and set the WIFI password in WIFI KEY.

【Note】If you are using the default language, you can press the Cross button by using the Up and Down buttons to switch the font, B to confirm, Y to delete, and press Start to connect to WIFI). After the connection is successful, you can see the IP address in the IP ADDRESS.

Setting to the black screen when the system is on standby

  • Press the Start button to enter the MENU interface, select UI SETTINGS, and press B to confirm.
  • And then select SCREENSAVER -> SCREENSAVER BEHAVIOR -> BLACK SCREEN.

Close the music POP-UP window

  • Press the Start button to enter the MENU interface, select UI SETTINGS, and press B to confirm.
  • Select POP-UP SETTINGS -> MUSIC POP-UP DURATION -> set it to 0.

Safe Shutdown

  • Press the SELECT button on the menu interface and select SHUTDOWN SYSTEM.

Configuration on Retropie system

  • 1. Download the newest Retropie image(the GPM280 can support Retropie 4.7.1 now) from the official website, and unzip it to get the .img file.

  • 3. Open the Win32DiskImager software, select the system image downloaded in step 1, and click 'Write' to write the system image.
  • 4. After the image has finished writing, open the config.txt file in the boot directory of the TF card, add the following code at the end of config.txt, then save and quit the TF card safely.

  • 5. Download the GPM280 DTBO and extract 1 dtbo file. Copy this file to the /overlays directory (/boot/overlays/).
  • 6. Download the GPM280 WIFI and extract two files. Copy these two files to the /boot directory of the TF card.
  • 7. And then open wpa_supplicant.conf which you have copied on the /boot directory, and modify the USERSSID and the USERPSK to the SSID and password of the WIFI you want to use.
  • 8. Save the file and quit the TF card safely.
  • 9. Insert the TF card into the GPM280, turn on the power switch, and wait ten seconds to enter the system normally.

Buttons Configuration

  • After the system is started, you will enter the WELCOME interface
  • Long press the "A" button (other keys are OK as well) to enter the buttons configuration page.
  • The UP\DOWN\LEFT\RIGHT options correspond to the Cross button. You can long-press A to skip the unused buttons. After configuring A\B\X\Y\START\SELECT\L\R, please note that the last HOTKEY selects the SELECT button by default, and then presses A to finish the configuration.

Expand Storage Space

  • Please enter the CONFIGURATION menu, and select RASPI-CONFIG.
  • And then select Advanced Options, select <Select> by the Cross button left and right, and press B to confirm.
  • After selecting A1 Expand Filesystem, press B to confirm, and restart the system.

IP address

  • Enter CONFIGURATION and then select SHOW IP, you will see the IP address on the GPM280.

Connect to GPM280 via sftp

  • Open FileZilla or other similar software, and enter the IP address obtained in the previous step.
  • User name: pi Password: raspberry, port: 22, and then you can connect to GPM280, as shown in the picture below.

Safe Shutdown

  • Press the START button on the menu interface and select QUIT -> SHUTDOWN SYSTEM.
